An Overly Excited Opinion of... Half a King by Joe Abercrombie

As a person way too fond of puns I really wanted to say that reading Joe Abercrombie's Half a King was a tale of two halves, but that wouldn't be fair. It's a tale of around 85% fantastic fun and 15% that I didn't enjoy and found pretty annoying at times. It does seem as though I'm in the minority with this view as Half a King is doing very strongly for ratings on goodreads. Be that as it may, it didn't blow my socks off and here's why.

An Overly Excited Opinion of... The Lies of Locke Lamora

Master criminals are not your run of your mill heroes, and confidence tricksters are not your run of the mill master criminals. Therefore, it's fitting that a book focused on the exploits of a rather exceptional confidence trickster is rather exceptional itself. Such a book would be very easy to get excited about, so here is my Overly Excited Opinion of The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

Welcome to Overly Excited Opinions!

This is a review site for pretty much any and every form of story; in particular stories which fall into  the science fiction and fantasy genres. 

I am often guilty of getting way too into films, books, TV shows and games and I want to share my enthusiasm and criticism of the media I consume with you. 

Hopefully, it might convince you to try something new which you might just find exciting too!

My current plan is to update this site weekly, on a day which I will confirm in the near future. But, there will be something new for you every week. Or, at least that's the plan. Comments will be open and welcome and I hope to create some discussion about the things I write.
